Sustainability

Granistone's authentic environmental awareness and sustainability efforts are reaffirmed by its participation in the Brazilian directory of members of the Green Building Council: a non-governmental organization dedicated to deepening a culture of sustainability, environmental balance and conscious use of natural resources in the construction industry.
Our commitment is certified by the Green Building Council and our partnership with Instituto Terra.

We reuse 100% of the water used in
processing sector

The excellence of the ornamental rocks produced by Granistone is the result of the intense work of more than 200 professionals with a wide range of specialties, capable of monitoring the minerals throughout the entire production process – from extraction to shipment to the client and application in construction projects.
All this care and dedication is supported by the privilege of being a company founded in Brazil: a country with the greatest geological diversity in the world. While the natural diversity of minerals present in Brazilian soil offers exuberant stones, the enterprise of extracting them brings with it a huge responsibility: environmental preservation.

As a friend of Instituto Terra, founded in 1998 by Lélia Wanick Salgado and Sebastião Salgado, Granistone is proud to cultivate a partnership with the non-profit non-governmental organization that is directly responsible for the reforestation and recovery process of thousands of hectares of Atlantic Forest in the states of Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo.

Another guideline of the sustainability policy is the reuse of water in the facilities and throughout the ornamental stone production chain. The mineral cutting and processing processes require large volumes of water. However, by investing in rainwater harvesting facilities, as well as in the treatment and reuse of wastewater from these operations, it is possible to reduce waste and make much more efficient use of the planet's most important natural resource.

We generate useful ENERGY savings of 95%*

* Compared to electrical energy
We use solar energy, which is one of the most sustainable in the world, being renewable and clean, since it does not emit pollutants nor use raw materials that are scarce in nature, generating useful savings of up to 95% compared to electricity.
It is essential to highlight the increasingly extensive use of photovoltaic panels to generate sustainable, renewable and clean energy at Granistone facilities, ensuring significant savings in energy demand in its production.
At each stage of our production process, we also think about how we can better protect the environment, and using solar energy has become a smart choice.
More than just a company concerned about its environmental impact, Granistone actively and consciously operates in the world, determined to leave the best legacy, both through its products and its practices.
Sustainability goes beyond caring for our space; it also involves caring for our people. Granistone is also active in the communities surrounding our quarries and actively contributes to their well-being.
